OLD winter layers

COLD night on Elizabeth street w/ kurt and Jas maybe 2 winters ago. I never liked wearing winter coats - instead i always layered...happy i grew out of that style. Burrr

For Ib and anyone else in love

Peter, Bjorn & John- Young Folks

Who needs sweaters to stay warm when you have a bunch of polyester shirts?

yyyyy does polyester generate so much heat? YUCK. this one has cute mini sized leaves on it. thank god i layered with something a lil more natural than vintage poly

Cut-out oxfords

blogged about getting these oxfords back in september. i like.

btw - im watching last weeks ugly betty (caught up on a marathon recently and i've been addicted ever since) and it upsets me that the papz don't stalk amanda in real life. she proally doesn't put as much effort into her wardrobe as her character does, but can i be the judge of that please?

Meet Gladys

she's the perfect shade of green with purple buttons. i bought Gladys from one of my favorite vintage shops in williamsburg about 5 years ago when i lived there. The hottest lil married couple owned it and i miss them and their shop since they closed down a year or 2 ago. i think the girl's name was paulette - so stylish and adorable. anyways, i wore this grandma coat to death for a couple of winters. thank god i didn't loose it in one of my fung-shei attacks because i still think she's great.

Missing

: long gray cardigan and pink-ish plaid flannel button down.
I've searched my 1 room apartment high and low and still nothing. so annoying!

Hips

really not sure when i grew my mischa barton hips, but a - here they are. i'm sure it's just an optical illusion. haysus.

sorry for the GIANT football player size pic but i need to pay homage to the cute embroidered detail on my vintage jumper that i bought off the street last month. the thing in the middle is a pocket making it the 3rd pocket since it has 2 on the side. gotta love how everything made in the 70's has lovely side pockets!

Flowers

at work, there's nothing better than getting the "you have a package in the messenger room" voicemail. Cause it means flowerrrrrssss! sadly tho, these are not from a boy...just an appreciative co-worker.

Old Dirty Shoes

pulled out my OLD clarks from college (remember these James?) and boy did I forget how they feel like heaven on velvet clouds.

How Bad Can Work Suck?

so bad that I let Broken Social Scene tix go just to stay home and prepare for work. My professional life is less than delightful - it's just gotta get better soon :( The only real joy in my life tonight is knowing that I'm dvr'n Gossip Girl and the new Project Runway!

Broken Social Scene - Lover's Spit

Dressed in all black

I will not take another pigeon-toed picture
I will not take another pigeon-toed picture
I will not take another pigeon-toed picture
OK now that that's out of the way let's talk about my sweatshirt dress that i decided to wear long over jeans today. Well I love it and I have it in gray too!
yes that is the opposite of everything original but when shopping retail ( aka not off the street/in the flea/or thrifting) get 2. i mean how great would it be to have 2 of your favorite shirt or cardigan or jeans i ask.

Played the umbrella game tonight

sounds ridic but sometimes when you get caught in rain you have to play the umbrella game where you secretly find a dry space under a strangers umbrella. This works best with very large umbrellas at cross walks. so anyway - question to self: self, why do all of my Free People clothes seem to look like pajamas?

Finally got my jacket out of the cleaners

this one

Boylia

Everly Bear

Anthony Kiedis named his lil baby boy Everly Bear - and I can't stop falling in love with it. Makes my heart go "awwww". Adding it to my list of favorite names, now I just need to have something to actually name - like a baby or a puppy or something.

I'm still here...

just been caught up in the fog for the last couple of weeks but things are better now. Ahhh life has been more than foggy :( ANYWAYS...if the below emotionally and other nameless things fueled performance is too much for you - please at least enjoy the featured 70's/80's typical reggae wardrobe choices. Y can't all boys dress like this?
Burning Spear - Foggy Road

My New Favorite Old Shirt

thrifted this a couple weeks ago. Love it - def going into the main circulation. Since the picture is so bad I'll elaborate. It's navy and forest green plaid straight out of someones closet form 1992.

Autum Layers

as I struggled to find something to wear this morning I was reminded of the fact that I really don't have any good clothes right now. It's ridiculous, I squeezed into a sweater/sweatshirt thingy from like 5 years ago. I walked to the train thinking "give it up lady" anyway, I love the Ralph Lauren blazer I'm wearing - I got it from Sal's maybe 4 or 5years ago but I didn't start wearing it until last Fall foolishly.

Saturday, Oct 27th Birthday Brunch

rain rain go away, come back another day
happy birthday James

yay or nay?

this dress reminds me of a russian scarf, that's really the only reason why I think I like it. I had it all summer and I've only worn it a couple of times.

This Ones for you Ariel

A lil blast from the spring/summer '07 past

Veggie Sausage Fingers

DB said she has fat fingers so she gave me her new ring. If her fingers are fat than what are mine...sausages? (veggie of course)

40 Bond St.

walking down bond st I was surprised to find this winter wonderland thing. I have no idea why there's an art installation in front of the entire building but I instantly smiled. And as I'm imagining wearing soft fuzzy boots and thick layers drinking hot chocolate walking in the cold city I look across the street and see the CUTEST restaurant that screamed everything about AUTUMN LOVE. It must be a bistro - no other place could be that dim and romantic and perfect. Like how my parents house looks around this time when its dark out and they only have one candle burning in the glass enclosed front porch. Pumpkins and dim lights basically - so great. I'm going, will take a pic to share the experience (if I'm not feeling too cool for school).

btw: tonight is another warm October 80 degree-er.

Hair Shot

if i can figure out a way to make the curls stay longer than 2 hours I may not need that mid-length bob wig after all...we shall see.

Took the new old boots out for a ride.

Their bfs are super thick socks - I'm fine with that.

wood

ies (mtvU award show) are coming up next month, I don't even know who's performing this year. I went last year and the year before. '05 fav was def Death Cab (death cab I LOVE U) and '06 was def TV on the Radio (not Gym Class - sorry James I know Trav is yur baby and all - and I agree that he's cute for sure but I'm a fan of TVOTR for their actual music).
Death Cab for Cutie - Soul Meets Body
TV On The Radio - Wolf Like Me

Too many jackets and nothing to wear

I don't own any jackets that I currently love (including the black army I wore during the day). Well maybe I'm into 3 of them, yet I own about 8 ( and that's just Fall jackets not coats and that's not spring jackets either). I surprisingly don't even care, I mean I just am feeling shopping lazy and the thought of searching for a great Fall jacket when I can invest that time and $ into the ultimate winter coat search just seems stupid. So anyway back to the jacket convo - shall I purge or shall I not... I'm annoying.

p.s. I found great brown riding boots today that remind me of the ones I had in 8th grade - traded those brown ankle boats and some other stuff to cover the cost.

Longest Work Week Ever

This is how I feel after the longest work ever...maybe next week will be better :/

Slumpy

Fashion slump yes - but at least I had a good hair week (well the beginning of the week anyways)

Genie Sofa at michaels office

second hand baseball tee and those damn Minnetonka booties that I've worn for like everyday for 2 years!so wanted to let these worn out boots have a rest. But the new leather ankle boots feel like boats. I hate them. Maybe I get black moccasin booties (a lil bit taller) just to get a break from my regulars.

p.s. walking up w.houston (near 6th ave) we saw jeffrey from project runway. 1, yay project runway starts soon and 2, YES, his neck is even weirder looking in real life.

Couple of summer '07 favorites

Justice - D.A.N.C.E. Me: love

J Dilla - Nothing Like This. Me: speechless

A certain music loving person in my life (michael) suggested that I post music that I like on this blog. I'm no longer opposed to the idea- it might be exciting to reflect and see what I was into and when. So anyway, I only chose 2 of my summer loves to post. Months later and I still can't get enough of them.

btw. I just caught the cute Fiest shout out in D.A.N.C.E months and months after listening to it. I'm slow.

Sincerely, Bigfoot

No I'm not dressed as a petite man, this is James. James has a real job, with pink carpets - and they force him to wear biz caz

this is me

I feel like my feet look HUGE in these boots :( They're 8.5 instead of my real size 8, but I was desperado for leather ankle boots and they look so good for vintage. Argh. I think I'm over them already

Holding on for NO reason

no, I'm not 5 months pregnant! just a really bad angle of a very loose shirt. i promise, i swear!
this shirt was suppose be in the purge pile LAST WINTER
the shoes are going too - they feel bulky

Confirmations

Searching for fleas in the e.v. and came to a couple of very sad confirmations. 1. The Ave A flea is def forever long gone and closed down after 11 years. and 2. Suzette Sundays is closing down next month after 5 years. And now a moment of silence...Anyway, I found Basquiat spray painted on a wall. Aww

walked past a few stoop sales today, courtney got a colorful belt

I got a Mexican looking jumper...guess I'm really into the red and purple thing

Sloppy Uniform

I looked a sloppy mess today. From the wrinkled vintage Lacoste cardigan that's totally piling sp? to the super thick argyle socks stuffed into my oxfords - eww. O, mental note: buy socks that aren't 5 inches thick or knee-highs.
